Shepherd of the Hills readies for Easter activities

    Sparta - Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Sparta will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt from 1 to 3 p.m., on Saturday, April 8. The event will take place rain or shine, and is open to the community. The event will feature an Egg Hunt, games, prizes, craft activities and refreshments. Children can receive prizes for participating in the games and they can also “earn” a goodie bag by finding a minimum number of eggs in the hunt. The Easter Bunny will be in attendance to pose for photos with the children. Shepherd of the Hills is also inviting the community to events marking Holy Week. Palm Sunday services will take place at 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, April 8. Sunday services are set for 8:30 and 10:30 am. The church will hold a reenactment of the Last Supper at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13. On Friday, April 14, the congregation will host an hour of devotions at 12 noon, and the Tenebrae Good Friday service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Easter Sunday services are scheduled for 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. on April 16. The 10:30 a.m. church services will feature Children’s Sermons and Sunday school. Easter Brunch will take place at 9:30 am on Easter. The church is located at 246 Woodport Rd. in Sparta.
