Ledgewood — Ronetco Supermarkets, Inc., announced that Janine Lortz and Lisa Darcy, ShopRite of Franklin associates, are pictured on a new Cheerios cereal box, available in the store located on Route 23, as a result of their successful efforts to raise awareness and funds to help fight hunger in northwest New Jersey. Wakefern Food Corporation, the wholesale merchandising and distribution arm for ShopRite supermarkets, and General Mills, the manufacturer of Cheerios, have recognized the ShopRite of Franklin and Lortz and Darcy for their understanding of and participation in the Partners In Caring campaign and particularly for its donation drive in conjunction with Hunger Awareness Day. The ShopRite of Franklin raised $3,702 for the Partners in Caring Fund and an additional $1,894 for the NORWESCAP Food Bank. Collectively, Ronetco’s seven ShopRite supermarkets raised $24,829 for the Fund and $13,311 for the Food Bank. ShopRite’s Partners in Caring campaign is a year-round, community-based program that donates Food Bank credit to local food pantries and feeding programs in its trading areas. The program is again donating $2 million this year, through its network of 192 ShopRite stores located in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware. Locally, 42 food pantries and feeding programs have been recipients of Food Bank credit, helping numerous individuals or families in need. Five of Ronetco’s ShopRites placed among the top 25 ShopRites in the Wakefern chain in the collection of donations.
