Soroptimists to award scholarships
Newton - Soroptimist International of Sussex County is seeking applicants for their 2006 Women’s Opportunity Awards Program. The award is designed to recognize and financially assist Sussex County women who are furthering their education while also serving as the head of their household. Award recipients are often widowed or divorced and enrolled in an educational program to upgrade their job skills to support their family. Deadline for submitting an application, including two letters of reference, is March 15. To obtain an application, send a self-addressed, stamped business-size envelope with 63 cents postage to Women’s Opportunity Award Program, 617 Limecrest Rd., Newton, NJ 07860. Applications are also available at the financial aid office of Sussex County Community College and at the Project Self-Sufficiency office on Route 206 North, next to Blockbuster Video. It has more than 50,000 members in almost 1,500 clubs in 21 countries and territories. The Sussex County club was formed in 1980 and has 20 members in various professions, including real estate, county government, higher education, and financial services.
