sparta — The Sparta Elks held a fundraising breakfast last month to benefit Kaityln Rose, a young girl who has been fighting liver disease since birth. She has biliary atresia, a rare disease that has no known cause. The only cure is a liver transplant. Sparta Elks, assisted by the Elks Northwest District Handicapped Children's Committee, Livingston Lodge, Parsippany Lodge and members of the community, raised over $3,400, to be presented to Kaitlyn Rose's family. "The expense for such a procedure is staggering," said Peter Appaluccio, public relations chairman of the Sparta Elks. "We will continue to accept donations and pass them on to the family. We thank everyone who came for breakfast and those who just stopped by to make a donation."
