Sparta hires new CFO from Franklin/ Hardyston

    SPARTA — Grant Rome has accepted a position as CFO with Sparta Township. Franklin Borough accepted the resignation of its treasurer and CFO Grant Rome, whose services were shared with the township of Hardyston, earlier this week. Rome started with Franklin Borough 15 years ago. His hiring was announced by Sparta Township Manager David Troast at the council meeting there Tuesday night. Rome's anticipated start date in Sparta is Oct. 24. Troast said he would introduce Rome to the council and the public at its Oct. 25 meeting. Rome replaces Sparta's former CFO Mike Guarino, who had held the position for the last eight years. Guarino had resigned in August to a take a position in Denville. Salary terms were not yet finalized and are expected to be announced later.
