Sparta Junior Woman's Club to meet March 6

    Sparta - The Junior Woman’s Club of Sparta’s will hold a general meeting at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, March 6, on the first-floor gathering room of the Lake Mohawk Country Club. The meeting is open to all area women interested in meeting women with common interests. The club is involved with nunmerous community projects as well as fun activities. Among the club’s departments are the home life/art department, which organizes activities designed to promote positive family values and to improve the quality of life for members of the club and community. This month’s activity is apple picking. Details will be outlined during the general meeting. The art department provides creative activities for the club, such as evenings out for adults, activities and events to enjoy with children, and projects to serve the community. The department is currently organizing a pottery painting class for children during March. The international affairs department promotes the understanding and acceptance of international causes, events and traditions and to inform members of global issues impacting world cultures. Currently, the department continues to raise money for Heifer International. The membership department’s goal is to maintain and strengthen membership through activities, recognition and participation. This month the membership department is planning a scrapbooking event. Details will be presented at the general meeting. The public affairs department raises awareness of citizenship, crime prevention and safety. This department is sponsoring kindergarten fingerprinting from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 11, at the Alpine and Helen Morgan schools. Further details will be provided at the general meeting.
