Sparta Junior Woman's Club to meet Sept. 11

    Local area women are invited to attend the Junior Woman’s Club of Sparta’s general meeting to be held at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, on the first floor gathering room of the Lake Mohawk Country Club. The club offers a variety of ways for local women to get involved in community projects. The club’s Conservation Department looks for ways to explore nature and new ways to conserve. An ongoing activity for the Conservation Department includes the Nike Sneaker Recycling Program as well as a clean up program that focus on eliminating cigarette butt litter. The Education Department tries to promote a lifelong love of learning in area children and adults as well as increasing the educational opportunities for local residents. The department is currently holding a backpack drive to benefit children in Sussex county. The Health Department promotes healthy eating habits, exercise and de-stressing techniques. The department’s goal is to raise awareness of various health issues. The Home Life/Art Department organizes various activities that promote positive family values and improves the quality of life for club members and the community in general. The Art Department provides creative activities such as evenings out for adults, activities and events for children and projects to serve the community. The International Affairs Department promotes the understanding and acceptance of international causes, events and traditions and to inform members of global issues impacting world cultures. The Membership Department’s goal is to maintain and strengthen membership through activities, recognition and participation. This month the membership department is planning a Couples Cocktail Party, a gourmet lunch outing as well as a scrapbooking event. Details to be provided at the September general meeting. The Public Affairs Department raises awareness of citizenship, crime prevention and safety. The Juniorette Advisory Department acts as a liasion between our club and Juniorette club.
