Sparta Junior Woman's Club wins state-wide awards
Sparta - Members of the Junior Woman’s Club of Sparta attended the N.J. State Federation of Women’s Clubs of GFWC Junior Membership Convention, held May 19-20 at the Parsippany Hilton in Parsippany. The Sparta club won awards in the following categories: First place - Press Book Award First place - Golden Key Award, Membership Category 23-36 First place - Newsletter Award, Membership Category 23-36 Second place - Best Work in the Communications Department, Membership Category 23-36 Third place - Best Work in State Project, Membership Category 23-36 Third place - Best Work in the Public Affairs Department, Membership Category 23-36 The club was also recognized for its Junior Special Project, Advocates for Children - DARE Program; UNICEF contribution of $1,532.61, and state project contribution of $3,739. Founded in 1890, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs is one of the world’s oldest non-partisan, nondenominational women’s volunteer service organizations. The N.J. State Federation of Women’s Clubs is a statewide organization providing education, training and interaction opportunities for volunteers committed to individual growth and community involvement, enriching the quality of life throughout the state and the world. Delegates from the Sparta club participated in the two day convention. “The Convention is a time to celebrate the year that’s ending and to get excited about the year ahead.,” said Dana Mitchell, president of the club. “The Juniors of Sparta have so much to be proud of. This sense of pride is the result of volunteering and the satisfaction from helping others.”
