Sparta Middle School students donate hundreds of books to Project Self-Sufficiency
Sparta - Jordan Rolph and Lauren Holdworth, H2H members at the Sparta Middle School, recently conducted a used book drive for donation to Project Self-Sufficiency. Under the guidance of peer leader John Cantelmo, the K-8 book drive collected more than 300 books for use in early childhood development activities for the children at Little Sprouts, or in conjunction with the agency’s school, day care or Head Start facility. The book drive was part of the continued year-long support of Sussex County service agencies by Sparta H2H students. The students said they recognize that literacy is an important factor in building effective students who will grow to become independent and economically self-sufficient adults. The Sparta Middle School H2H leadership group has four more projects slated before the end of the school year. They plan to support U.S. troops through the Red Cross, run cross-age activities at the Middle School, collect needed items for the homeless, and bake cookies for our local senior citizens.
