    August 6 At 1:11 a.m. Patrolman Jeff Mase observed a speeding vehicle traveling north on State Highway Route 15. After stopping the vehicle, Mase charged with the driver, Sharon Krueger, 40, of Newton with driving while intoxicated, speeding and failure to produce valid insurance card. She was released pending an appearance in Sparta Township Court. August 7 At 5:30 a.m. Patrolman John Seville investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident on Woodlawn Road. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, a 13-year-old female juvenile who lives on Fox Hollow Road. The youth was charged with careless driving, unlicensed driver and driving while suspended. She was released to her parents. At 1:46 a.m. Patrolman Jeff Mase observed a vehicle go through a stop sign at the intersection of Mt. Pleasant Road and Edison Road. After stopping the vehicle, Corey Lyons, 19, of Oak Ridge, N.J., was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to stop and underage possession of alcohol. He was released pending an appearance in Sparta Court. At 4:49 a.m. Patrolman Jeff Mase observed a vehicle traveling north on Route 15 at the 9.5-mile-marker that was weaving over the road. After stopping the vehicle, Mase arrested the driver, Virgilio Caraballo Jr., 34, of Vernon, who was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain lane. He was released pending an appearance in Sparta Court. At 11:43 p.m., Patrolman Jeff Mase observed a vehicle traveling Northbound on Route 15 at the 12-mile-marker that was weaving and traveling very slowly. After stopping the vehicle, Mase arrested the driver, Francesco Leto, 33, of Franklin,, who was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain lane. He was released pending an appearance in Sparta Court. At 11:20 p.m., Sgt. Neil Spidaletto observed a vehicle traveling north on Route 181 in the area of Green Road that crossed over the white fog line. After stopping the vehicle, Spidaletto arrested the driver, Alan Batton, 44, of Lafayette, who was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain lane. He was released pending an appearance in Sparta Court. August 8 At 11:34 p.m., Patrolman Rob Fraser observed a vehicle that was traveling south on Route 15 that had no license plate lights. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Raymond Demercurio, 18, of Franklin, who was charged with hindering apprehension, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, license plate light out and failure to produce documentation. He was released pending an appearance in Sparta Court. At 5:30 p.m., Patrolman Brian Hassloch responded to Route 94 for a motorcycle accident Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Diana Moore, 49, of Ringwood. Police said she lost control of her motorcycle and struck a street sign, and was thrown off the motorcycle. She was transported to Newton Memorial Hospital for her injuries. She was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain lane of travel. At 03:36 a.m., Patrolman Jeff Mase observed a vehicle traveling south on Route 181 in the area of Morgan Drive that was speeding. After stopping the vehicle, Mase arrested the driver, Eric Nielsen, 47, of Lake Hopatcong, who was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding, failure to keep right, failure to change address and failure to exhibit documents. He was released pending an appearance in Sparta Court. August 10 At 4:43 p.m., Patrolmen William Moyle and Kurt Morris responded to the area of Sparta Burger King for a report of two intoxicated females who had children in the car. After they stopped the vehicle in the Lakeland Bank Parking lot, further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Kimberly Karpowica, 25, of Franklin, and the front-seat passenger, Gennifer Bingham, 27, of Hamburg. Karpowica was charged with possession of heroin, being under the influence of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of children and abuse of children. She also was charged with numerous motor vehicle violations. Bingham was charged with being under the influence of heroin and abuse of children. She was transported to Newton Memorial Hospital and was later lodged in the Sussex County Jail. The Sussex County K-9 Officer and the Division of Youth and Family Services also assisted with this call. The three children were turned over to a family member. August 12 At 1:48 a.m. Patrolman Jeff Mase observed a vehicle traveling on Sparta Avenue that had a license plate light out. After stopping the vehicle, Mase arrested the driver, Daniel McDermott, 20, of Warren Road, Sparta, who was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to inspect and license plate light out. He was released pending an appearance in Sparta Court At 12:19 a.m. Patrolmen Robert Fraser and Lou Brown responded to the area of State Highway Route 15 northbound on a report of an erratic driver. After stopping the vehicle, the patrolmen arrested the driver, Stephen Race, 50, of Lafayette, who was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to maintain lane.
