October 30 At 4:30 p.m., Officer Richard Smith responded to Alpine Trail for a complaint that construction work was being done in violation of township ordinance. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the homeowner, Wadim Sakiewicz, 38, of Sparta. He has been charged with violating the noise ordinance, disorderly conduct, obstruction of law and resisting arrest. He was later released. At 9 p.m., a car driven by Ann Carty, 78, of Sparta, struck a parked car on West Shore Trail. Further investigation resulted in her arrest by Officer Frank Schomp. Carty was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, leaving the scene and failing to report the accident, She was later released. At 6:45 p.m., Police officer Kurt Morris observed a car parked on Brookside Drive that appeared to be abandoned. Further investigation by officer Morris, Sergeant John Paul Beebe and Sergeant Jeff Mase resulted in the arrest of the operator, Kyle Pappas, 18, of Sparta, and his passenger William Bartell, 21, also of Sparta. Both have been charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were later released. At 12:08 a.m., Patrolman Joseph Antonello was on a motor vehicle stop on Main Street when another vehicle pulled up behind him. After clearing from the stop, he went to check on the vehicle that pulled up behind him. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Shea Obrien, 18, of Sparta. He was charged with underage driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to wear a seatbelt and violation of his provisional driver license. He was released pending a mandatory court date in Sparta. November 1 At approximately 11:50 p.m., Police Officer Kurt Morris observed a vehicle traveling south on State Highway Route 181, that crossed over the double yellow lines and also failed to maintain its lane of travel. After stopping the vehicle, further investigation resulted in the arrest of Stanley Spaeth, Jr., 32, of Sparta, He was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to keep right, failure to signal turn and failure to notify the Division of Motor vehicle of change of address. A warrant out of Rockaway Borough was also located for Spaeth. He was able to post bail and was released pending a court date in Sparta. At 1 p.m., Patrolman Brian Hassloch observed a vehicle with a brake light out. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Sheena Sanders, 20, of Vernon. She was charged with possession of heroin, possession of a controlled and dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to exhibit documents and maintenance of lamps. She was released pending a mandatory court date in Sparta. A passenger in the vehicle, Paul Drake, 19, of Glenwood, was also arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending a mandatory court date in Sparta.
