September 8 At 1l:52 p.m., Officer Dave Pridham observed a car fail to signal as it turned from Route 517 onto West Mountain Road. After stopping the vehicle, farther investigation resulted in the arrest of the passenger, Michael Maggio, 23, of Sussex. He was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released. September 12 At 10:20 p.m., Officers Marc Rubino and Richard Smith responded to West Shore Trail in the area of Rocky Terrace for a report of an accident. While on the way to the area, the officers encountered Dennis Byrnes, 49, of Sparta, walking away from his car on West Shore Trail near the accident scene. Further investigation resulted in his arrest for careless driving and driving while intoxicated. At the accident scene Cpl. Rich Clayton and Officer Mark Mastandrea found that a car driven by Cathym Byrnes, 40, had struck a rock wall on West Shore Trail. Further investigation resulted in her arrest for careless driving, failing to maintain a lane of travel, not wearing a seatbelt and driving while intoxicated. Both were later released September 13 At approximately 4:16 p.m., Ptl. Joseph Pensado responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of White Lake Road and State Highway Route 94. According to the investigation, Voigt Kempson, 45, of Sparta, failed to atop at the intersection and struck a motorcycle driven by John Pippitt, 40, of Caldwell. Pippitt was transported to Newton Hospital. Kemspon received a summons for failure to stop or yield at an intersection. September 14 Officers Marc Rubino and Richard Smith stopped a car on Route 15 south at the Jefferson Township line for failing to maintain a lane or travel. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the passenger, Peter Hamberger, 20, of Port St. Lucie, Fl. He was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Hamberger was later released.
