February 16 During the evening hours police report someone damaged several mailboxes on Kroghs Lane, Houses Corner Road and Old Prospect Road causing a lot of damage. Sparta Police are investigating and are asking if anyone saw the individuals involved to call the department at (973) 729-6121. All information will be kept confidential. February 18 At approximately 10:27 p.m., Sparta Police Patrolman David Pridham responded to a motor vehicle accident on West Gate Drive. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Andrew C. Vandillen,19, of Sparta. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to maintain lane of travel, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and possession of alcoholic in a motor vehicle while underage. Vandillen was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Sparta. A 16-year-old male passenger, was also charged with underAge Possession of Alcohol and was released to his parent.
