    Oct. 22 On Oct. 22 a Milford man was arrested after other motorists reported him operating his vehicle erratically on Route 15. At 1:55 a.m., Officer CJ Grauerholz was dispatched to the area to locate a reported possible intoxicated driver. The officer located the vehicle traveling north on the highway and after making his own independent observations of erratic operation, stopped the vehicle. Subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of the operator, 26-year-old Enoc Alvarado. Alvarado was later charged with DWI, careless driving and failure to maintain a single lane of travel. He was released several hours later to a sober adult. His vehicle has been impounded. Oct. 23 Sparta Police have concluded their investigation into a motor vehicle stop on Oct. 23 that resulted in five teenagers being charged with drug and alcohol related complaints. At 12:23 a.m. Officer Marc Rubino was assigned to the DWI Supplemental Patrol within the township, when he stopped a . Honda Civic traveling north of Sparta Avenue near the intersection of North Shore Trail for having an inoperable headlight. There were five people in the car. As the officer spoke to the operator, later identified as 19-year-old Sparta resident Monica Sullivan-Melara, he detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the interior of the vehicle. Subsequent investigations lead to the arrest of Sullivan-Melara after she was found in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Open and unopened containers of alcohol were also found in the vehicle. These included both bottles and cans of beer. Drug Paraphernalia included a metallic smoking pipe and a gravity bong, which Sullivan-Melara claimed ownership of. Sullivan-Melara was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was processed and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics in a motor vehicle, underage possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle, maintenance of lamps, unregistered vehicle, failure to exhibit documents and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. She was released on her own recognizance several hours later. The following Sparta residents were charged with possessing alcohol while under the legal age, 18-year-old Arielle Romero, 18-year-old Andrew Dick and a 17-year-old male juvenile. Randolph resident Clairanne Cardaci, 20, was also cited for underage possession of alcohol. Oct. 25 On Oct. 25 a Sparta woman was arrested and charged with a variety of motor vehicle violations after she was reported by other motorists to be operating her vehicle erratically on Sparta Avenue. At 4:23 p.m., the vehicle in question, a pick-up truck was found a short time later parked in a fire zone in the parking lot of Our Lady of the Lake Church. The vehicle was running and the operator, later identified as 53-year-old Jeannet Schwab was asleep behind the wheel. Subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of Schwab who was transported to police headquarters for processing and breath testing. Schwab was charged with DWI, careless driving and unlawfully parked in a fire zone. She was released several hours later to a sober adult. Her vehicle was impounded. Nov. 4 A 24-year-old Sparta man face drug charges after he survived a drug overdose in his home early Saturday morning. At 6:21 a.m. Cpl. Robert Fraser and Officer CJ Grauerholz were dispatched to the Meadow Lane residence on a medical call. Timothy Yeagley was found unconscious on his bed. There was a hypodermic needle and multiple empty wax folds on the night stand, including one fold that contained heroin. Yeagley was transported by the Sparta First Aid squad to Newton Medical Center. He was treated and released later in the day. Yeagley was then processed and charged at Sparta Police headquarters with possession of heroin, possession of hypodermic needles and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance. A Vernon man was arrested early Friday morning after he was found in his vehicle which was parked partially in the roadway on Main Street. At 2:26 a.m., Officer Frank Schomp who was on routine patrol came upon a Volvo that was running and in gear but the headlights were off. After speaking to the driver, later identified as 41-year-old Simeon Lott, it was determined that Lott had consumed alcoholic beverages. After failing a series of field sobriety tests, Lott was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing and breath testing. Lott was later charged with DWI and careless driving. He was released several hours later to a sober adult. His vehicle has been impounded.
