Sparta - On Dec. 1 at I2:03 a m., police received a report of a vehicle off the traveled way on Woodport Road. Patrolman David Pridham found a silver Nissan hung up on the curbing near the intersection of East Mountain Road. The driver, Alien Wiltz, 21, of Stanhope was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Sparta police headquarters for processing and was charged with more motor vehicle offenses: careless driving, improper U-turn and failure to keep right. He was released pending a required court appearance, Later that morning, at 7:15 a.m., Corporal John Lamon was on routine patrol on the Sparta Junction when he observed a red Chevrolet van with ladders hanging on the roof but no required markers. The driver, Olger Paramo, 26, of Newark produced an Arizona drivers license. Lamon checked the license through the Division of Motor Vehicle data base and determined the license to be fraudulent Paramo was transported to Sparta police headquarters for processing. He was charged with criminal simulation, a fourth degree crime; overhanging use of lamps and reflectors, failure to exhibit a valid drivers license upon request and operating while unlicensed. Mr. Paramo was released pending a required court appearance. On Dec. 3 at 5:52 p.m., Patrolman Richard Smith was dispatched to a report of black Chevrolet Blazer being operated in an erratic manner northbound on Route 15.. The vehicle was stopped near the 14-mile marker on Route 15. The driver, Richard Kulisz, 46, of Middletown was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Sparta police headquarters for processing. He was additionally charged with refusing to submit to a breath test, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, and littering from a motor vehicle. Kulkz was released pending a required court appearance. Sgt. Jeffrey Mase was monitoring traffic on West Shore Trail on Dec. 7 at 12:44 a.m., when he observed a blue Chrysler Concord pass him. The vehicle’s license pkte light was out. The driver William Holycross, 39, of Sparta was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Sparta headquarters for processing, where he was charged with additional offenses: maintenance of lamps, unclear pktes and failure to exhibit a valid insurance card. Holycross was released pending a required court appearance.
