July 31 James Cronin, age 50, of Vernon, was sentenced to three years probation, credit for time served in jail 44 days, 90 days S,L,A.P., $3,555 in fines and a six month loss of driver’s license. He pled guilty on April 21 to three counts of third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He admitted to possessing ecstasy in Vernon on May 17, 2007 and cocaine on July 20, 2007 and August 14, 2007 in Vernon. Aug. 4 Brian Crowe, age 29, of Highland Lakes, was sentenced to three years drug court probation, 49 days in jail, inpatient substance abuse treatment, $1205 in fines and a six month loss of driver’s licence. He pled guilty on June 23 to third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He admitted to possessing two bags of heroin on February 8 when a Vernon Police Officer responded to his home regarding the defendant having overdosed on heroin. Richard Sweller, age 35, of Newton was sentenced to three years drug court probation, 91 days jail, inpatient substance abuse treatment, $280 in fines and restitution to two local supermarkets. He pled guilty on June 17 to third degree forgery and fourth degree uttering a forged instrument. He admitted that in February he forged and cashed a series of stolen checks at Shop Rite and Weis Supermarkets. Cagney Moog, age 22, of Sparta, was sentenced to four years drug court probation, 270 days jail, $2,488 in fines and a seven month loss of driver’s license. He pled guilty on June 25 to third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, DWI and disorderly persons offense of possession of drug paraphenalia.He admitted to possessing 14 bags of heroin in Byram Township on April 11 following amotor vehicle stop by Byram Police Officer Daniel DeWald and that he ingested heroin and marijuana while operating his vehicle. He also admitted to possessing an empty bag of heroin on June 23 which was discovered by Sussex County Sheriff Office Detective Michael Yanko after the defendant was remanded to the county jail. Aug. 5 John W. Poland, age 25, of Newton was indicted with five counts of third degree forgery, one count of fourth degree theft by deception, one count of third degree theft by deception, four counts of fourth degree criminal simulation and three counts of fourth degree issuing a bad check. The case was investigated by Sgt. G. Gamski of the Byram Township Police Department. The Grand Jury alleges that the defendant possessed four fake identifications and matching fake checks which he used to make purchases between March 13and March 16 in Byram Township. On July 31 At approximately 7:40 p.m. Sparta patrols were advised of an erratic driver traveling Sparta Ave. toward Andover. Moments later Sparta patrols were advised the vehicle had crashed near Pinkneyville Road, Further investigation by Cpl. Bill Moylc resulted in the arrest of the driver, James Badrow, 28, of Wantage. He was charged with DWI, careless driving and expired registration. He was released pending a mandatory court date in Sparta Municipal Court. Ptl. Frank Schomp, and Sgt Gil Tagliatella and Ptl. Rich Then from Andover Police assisted. Aug. 3 At 12:44 a.m. Ptl. Frank Schomp was dispatched to a Main Street residence for an intoxicated driver with a flat tire in the driveway. Ptl. Schomp arrived to find a red Chrysler Lebaron in the driveway. The driver Justin Agamic, age 25, of Carpinteria CA was arrested for DWI. A check revealed that Mr. Agamic had several outstanding warrants pending from Greenbrook Twsp, Woodbridge Twsp, Rockaway Twsp, Ogdensburg and Kinnelon. He was transported to Sparta PD for processing. He was additionally charged with careless driving and driving while suspended. Mr. Agamic was able to post bail for the multiple warrants and was released pending a required court appearance.
