Oct. 13 A police investigation that started as a reported theft ended in drug charges for a Sparta man. The investigation began on Oct. 13 when a local merchant reported the theft of $380 from the store’s cash register. Cpl. William Moyle questioned the store workers who all denied any involvement or knowledge of the missing cash. Gaveric Bach, 18, admitted to the officer the following day while being interviewed that he had stolen the money and used a portion of it to purchase a half of an ounce of marijuana. The missing money was never recovered but Bach was found in possession of marijuana and several small plastic baggies. Bach was arrested and charged with Possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was processed at police headquarters and released on his own recognizance on Oct. 15th. The local merchant declined to press charges against Bach for the theft of the money from the cash register but his employment has been terminated. Det. Terrence Mulligan assisted with the investigation.
