Sparta Police Department receives donation

    SPARTA TOWNSHIP-The Sparta Friends and Neighbors Club donated $500 to the Sparta Police Department, Feb. 8, to purchase a pediatric defibrillator attachment. The donation was funded with proceeds from the annual Holiday Auction in December, when $3,750 was raised from more than 60 local businesses and club members. A donation of $1,537.50 was also made to support the Project Self-Sufficiency Mammography Van in Sussex County. In addition, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation received a check for $1,537.50. Accepting the check from Diane Murray, president of Sparta Friends and Neighbors, and Donna O'Connor, Holiday Auction chairperson, is Sgt. Rozak, Sgt. Smith, and Officer Jespersen from the Sparta Police Department. The Sparta Friends and Neighbors Club has a variety of ongoing activities to help those new to the community make friends.
