Sparta Rotary gone, but scholarship lives on

Sparta - Although the Sparta Rotary Club disbanded last July, former members are still at work distributing left over monies meant for charities and otherwise doing good for the Sparta community. In the fall, they installed the new Lake Mohawk Plaza clock, and most recently they gave a $1,000 scholarship to Justin Grindle, a senior at Sussex County Technical School, who is enrolled in the school’s culinary program. Money for the scholarship was left to the Sparta Rotary Club by Peter Stamer, in memory of his father, Eric Stamer (a former Rotary member) with the intention of giving it to benefit a culinary student. The check was presented to Grindle at a luncheon held recently in the culinary dining room at Sussex Tech.
