Sparta - Students and families from Alpine, Helen Morgan and Mohawk Ave. Schools donated 710 coats to the 10th annual Jersey Cares Coat Drive. The coats are among thousands collected for distribution to N.J. residents including children and senior citizens who would otherwise face the harsh winter cold without warm winter coats. For the last five years, Sparta schools have participated in the Jersey Cares Coat Drive, which has collected and distributed over 28,000 coats throughout the state. This year Jersey Cares seeks to provide 30,000 coats to individuals served by over 200 partner agencies. Sparta teachers Amy Alvarez, Suzanne Smith, Mitch Jacobson and Sara Gregg organized the collections in their schools.
