Sparta students will dance in ‘Nutcracker' performance

Sparta - Local children from Linda’s Dance Dynamics in Sparta will perform in the Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker” at McNeice Auditorium at the Sussex County Technical School on Monday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. Local children from different areas audition to appear with the Russian dancers on the tours. Last year, more than 6,000 children in North America performed with Moscow Ballet as part of its educational outreach campaign, Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is an annual treat for the whole family, organizers said. Whimsical and imaginative storytelling ”blends with the richness of Russian classical dance to make the Great Russian Nutcracker a unique performance not to be missed,” they added. Set against Valentin Fedorov’s spectacular scenic design, the ballet also features larger-than-life puppets and the backdrop of unicorns, exotic birds and animals, The cast features graduates of the Perm, Vaganova, Moscow State Academic Choreographic and Kiev schools.
