    September 1 Ptl. Bnan Hassloch was on routine patrol on Route 15 on Sept. 1, when he observed a Toyota Camry being operated in an erratic manner, The driver, Maria Stringer, age 20, of Greentown Pa, was arrested for Driving under the influence of CDS (heroin), possession of narcotic paraphernalia, failure to maintain lane, failure to exhibit required documents, maintenance of lamps and operating with out a license. Two outstanding warrants issued out of the Sparta Municipal Court were also found. Stringer was lodged in the Sussex County Jail with a bail requirement of $1540. September 2 Sparta Police were called to the 7-11 store on Pine Cone Lane for a reported disturbance on Sept. 2. The vehicle that the person involved in the dispute was driving, was a black Ford Taurus. That vehicle left the 7-11 prior to the patrol’s arrival. The vehicle was seen traveling on Woodport Road by Patrolmen Joe Antonello and Dave Piidham. They stopped the vehicle on Bast Mountain Road The driver Marvin Cadet, age 21, of Randolph was arrested for DWI. He was transported to Sparta PD for processing. He was additionally charged with reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane and violation of the provisional driver’s license. The disturbance at the 7-11 started when Mr. Cadet wanted to use the rest room. No charges were filed for that incident, Mr. Cadet was released pending a required municipal appearance, Sgt. Jeff Mase was on routine patrol when he observed a white Volkswagen Jetta make an improper turn from Glen Road onto Kennedy Place on Sept. 3. The driver Charlotte Ziem, age 18, of Hamburg was arrested for DWI. Ziem and the passenger Amanda Klima, age 18, of Wharton were transported to Sparta PD for processing. Ms. Ziem was additionally charged with careless driving, improper turn, maintenance of lamps and failure to signal. Klima was charged with allowing an intoxicated person to operate a vehicle and underage possession of an alcoholic beverage. Both are scheduled to appear in municipal court Sparta police responded to 6 Woods End Court for a reported Assault and Kidnapping on Sept. 5. The female victim (name being withheld at this time) had been physically assaulted. She had been strangled with a length of rope. After the assault, the suspect removed $1200 from her purse. The victim was then forced to drive her assailant to Newark/Penn Station. Once they arrived, the assailant left the victim with her car. She returned home and contacted the Sparta Police. The victim identified her assailant as Jose Lewis, age 34, last known address being 64 East Jersey St., Elizabeth. Lewis is described as an Hispanic male, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 5’9” in height and weighs approximately 185 pounds. Lewis has an extensive criminal history and is presently wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Newark for Aggravated Assault, Detective Terrance Mulligan prepared an affidavit and arrest warrants were issued for Lewis, charging him with Kidnapping, Robbery, Aggravated assault and Criminal restraint Detective Sergeant John Schanstta and Detective Mulligan of the Sparta Police Department, with members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, arrested Jose I. Lewis who was wanted in connection with an Aggravated Assault and Kidnapping in Sparta on Tuesday Sept. 5. Lewis was arrested without incident on the 100 block of Frielinghuysen Ave. in Newark at approximately 4:30 p.m. Lewis was transported to Sparta PD for processing. Bail was set in the amount of $500,000 by Judge of the Superior Court, William McGovem III. Lewis is scheduled for his First Appearance in Superior Court today at l:30 p.m. On Sept. 7 at approximately 12:05 a.m., Cpl. Lou Takacs responded to the area of State Highway Route 15, on a call of an erratic driver. After stopping the vehicle, further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Michael Gesner, 30, of Incline Village, N.Y. He was charged with DWI, Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, Reckless Driving, Unlicensed Driver, Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel, Open Containers of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle and Disorderly Conduct He was released pending a Mandatory Court Date in Sparta Court. On Sept. 7, Sgt. John Paul Beebe (who was off duty) contacted headquarters to report he was following a suspected drunk driver. Cpl. Lou Takacs responded and stopped the vehicle on Warren Court. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Richard Quesenberry, 46, of Sparta. He was charged with DWI, Careless Driving, Failure to Keep Right, and Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel. He was released pending a mandatory Court Date in Sparta Court. On Sept. 7, Ptl. Brian Hassloch responded to Headquarters to release Richard Quesenberry to a sober adult, Mark Koronowski, 48, of Sparta admitted to driving to Police Headquarters to pick up Mr, Quesenberry. Mr. Quesenbery exhibited signs of being intoxicated himself. He was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI, Careless Driving and Operating an Unregistered Vehicle. He was released pending a mandatory court date in Sparta Court.
