Sparta Troop 150 advances in rank, earns merit badges

Sparta — Members of Sparta Boy Scout Troop 150 advanced in rank during a recent Court of Honor ceremony. As a scout advances in rank from tenderfoot to second class, first class, star, life and finally to the rank of Eagle Scout, he masters skills and acquires knowledge while taking part in activities and adventures. The following scouts were advanced in rank: Austin Kasabri (tenderfoot), Brad Maierle (tenderfoot) , Christopher Rozek (second class) , Joe More (first class and second class) , Jon Socci (second class), Jonathan Iannuzzi (tenderfoot) , Julian Buttitta (second class) , Julian Buttitta (tenderfoot) , Justin Allan (second class), Nate Mundi (tenderfoot), Ryan Faber (tenderfoot), Shawn Martin (scout), Timothy Johnson (tenderfoot), Timothy Puglio (first class). There are 120 merit badges available to earn that allow the scouts to explore new areas of interests, encourage them to be of service to others and their community and teach them lifelong skills, troop officials said, noting this Court of Honor recognized those achievements. The following scouts earned merit badges: Aaron Keck (leatherwork and nature), AJ Thomas (environmental science, first aid and wilderness survival), Alexander Gastelu (communications), Andrew Smith (basketry, first aid, climbing and lifesaving), Brad Maierle (leatherwork, nature and swimming), Brandon Entwistle (personal fitness), Carson McCormick (nature and swimming), Christopher Neurohr (archery and rifle shooting)and Christopher Rozek (leatherwork, nature and swimming). Also earning badges were: David McCarthy (environmental science and wood carving), Dylan Panicucci (first aid, leatherwork and lifesaving), Fred Clauss (first aid, mammal study and weather), Jack Frey (environmental science, leatherwork, first aid and small boat sailing), Joe More (archery and rifle shooting), John Puszcz (canoeing, fishing, pioneering, first aid and leatherwork), Jon Kalman (camping, wilderness survival, leatherwork and wood carving), Jon Socci (leatherwork and nature), Jonathan D’Agati (archery and lifesaving), Jonathan Iannuzzi (nature), Julian Buttitta (leatherwork, nature and swimming), Justin Allan (leatherwork, nature and swimming), Liam Sax (leatherwork and nature) and Matt Saba (environmental science, soil and water, weather, first aid and space exploration), Other badge earners were: Nate Mundi (leatherwork, nature and swimming), Nick Kalman (fishing, Indian lore and leatherwork), Oliver Elias (nature), Ryan Balemian (basketry, first aid and climbing and lifesaving), Ryan Faber (leatherwork, nature and swimming), Scott Byers (canoeing, Citizenship In Community and Leatherwork), Shawn Henderson (Leatherwork, Nature and swimming), Taylor Balemian (basketry, first aid, climbing and lifesaving), Timothy Johnson (leatherwork, nature and swimming), Timothy Puglio (lifesaving) and Tyler Hepp (small boat sailing).
