Sparta - Micky Regula, a 16-year-old Sparta resident who plans to become a doctor, has been nominated by Dr. Christine Moreira of Oak Ridge, N.C., to attend the 2006 National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. The nomination is based on his high academic achievement and leadership potential. Regula attends Oak Ridge Military Academy of North Carolina. The youth forum is a national organization dedicated to inspiring promising young people to pursue their professional goals, and is reserved for only the highest achieving high school students. Regula will join 350 outstanding students from across the U.S. for intensive day-long concentrations that will allow him to examine state of the art diagnostic tools and future medical specialties in detail. He will shadow, study, and learn from distinguished medical leaders, research pioneers, and visionaries, who are now at the top of their profession. He has chosen to attend Villanova in Philadelphia, Pa., as his host city in July 2006.
