Sparta's Bravest still await move in day

Sparta-According to Sparta Township Manager Henry Underhill, the Sparta Volunteer Fire Department will be moving into its new building "any day now." Presently, the $3 million structure, located off of Route 181 in Sparta stands vacant. Although the building was originally scheduled to be occupied by early April, delays in construction has pushed the opening back several months. "We are still touching up little things to get finished," said Underhill last week. "Every time I see the construction guys, they are working on it." The manager said that although the township already paid for and took possession of the structure, construction officials still had not signed off on the building due to issues with electrical switches, and pluming. Underhill did not know specifically what still needed to be done, but he maintained that the move was "right around the corner." Neither the Sparta construction office, or Fire Department officials were able to be reached for comment in time for publication.
