Sparta's marching orders

The 2004 Sparta High School Marching Band brings musical excellence to football games and other performance events throughout the year. The 100 Marching Spartans attended Marching Band Camp at East Stroudsburg University in August. For six days, the members learned their drills, memorized their music and built a foundation of teamwork and camaraderie. This year, the Marching Spartans will present selections from the Broadway show, Blast! including "Bolero", "Simple Gifts" and "Malaguena." In addition to performing at the varsity football games, the Marching Band performed in competitions at Vernon and at Giants Stadium. The Marching Band seniors are Terri Tanzola, Kelly Hanson, Katie Iannacone and Kayla Meny Aimee Collier, Meghan Binski, Nicki Vienne, Jami Niknam and Ashley Dickerson; (third row) Jason Roberts, Kateri Benjamin, Johnny Tirado and Joe Malaro; Zach Ripps, Jared King, Gerg Barkhauer and Sarah Snider; Katybeth Parr, Laura Hawxhurst and Christina Fisher.  Seniors and their families were honored at Senior Recognition, which was held during half-time on Saturday, Oct. 2. All Marching Band members will be honored at the Marching Band Banquet on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Lake Mohawk Country Club.
