Byram pair earns 76 medals

    BYRAM-Peg and Ed DeFrehn, of Byram, have participated in the Senior Olympic Games since 1990. They have participated in such events as softball hitting, softball throwing, javelin, discuss, shotput, basketball foul shots, darts, horseshoes, 100-meter dash, 1,500-meter walk, 25-meter freestyle, and 25-meter backstroke. The couple has collected 76 medals to date. 28 of them are gold, 37 of them are silver, and 11 of them are bronze. They have qualified for the National Senior Games 65 times. In 1995, they traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to compete in the national games. The DeFrehns will be traveling to Woodbridge this September to compete in numerous events at this year's Senior Olympics. They have five children, 13 grandchildren, and three great-grand children.
