East West Karate promotes four students

SPARTA — The East West Karate Academy of Sparta, located at 564 Lafayette Road, (Route 15), recently held its spring shiai tournament where Sensei Scott Klinger and his experienced team of black belts led the program for over 150 students in attendance. The competition for the day focused on kumite also known as sparring.
At the end of the program, Sensei Klinger promoted several students to advanced ranks. Congratulations to Jillian Grassia and Katelyn Nieuzytek for promotion to first degree black belt, Kyle Allen to 3rd degree black belt, and Barbara Malaro to the rank of 5th degree black belt. To reach these levels, students must train for many years and participate in competitive tournaments.
