Sparta — Fencing as an Olympic sport requires both physical and mental conditioning. Parents and young students love fencing as a sport because it improves concentration, helps individual thinking and improves school grades.
At Summer Fencing Camp at Sparta PAL beginners and advanced students learned basic and advanced footwork, individual and team bout tactics, and weapons techniques for mix foil and saber.
Under Maestro Mark Trudnos, National Fencing Alliance head coach, professional daily individual and group coaching was provided. Young fencers learned New Jersey USFA rules and regulations.
Over 50 New Jersey high schools offer fencing programs for boys and girls teams.
Starting in September 2017 NFA will host weekly fencing group sessions at the PAL gym at 38 Station Rd. Sparta. Every Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:00 PM students will learn foil and saber weapons techniques. Beginners and advanced fencers are welcome. As young as 6 years old can register. Entries are limited on a "first come first serve" basis. More info on NFA website: www.nationalfencing.com , by phone NFA office at (973)910-3774 or by email: mark@nationalfencing.com
