    n Pope John 5, Vernon 0 Katie Frick and Nicole Laemers each tallied two goals as Pope John blanked Vernon 5-0 to open the SCIL field hockey campaign. Goalkeeper Gabby Longo came up with five saves to preserve the shutout. Laemars netted an unassisted goal 3:54 into the game and Meredith Harclerode made it 2-0 at the 26:16 mark. Frock tallied her first goal less than two minutes later as the Lions opened up a three-goal advantage by the intermission. n Kittatinny 6, Sparta 0 Sparta played its first varsity match since 1986 and the long absence from the sport was evident when Kittatinny rolled to a 6-0 win. Melissa Kistle scored twice for the Cougars with Melanie Beir, Nicole DiBattista, Erin McGinnis and Lauren Nicomini also depositing balls in the Spartans' cage. n Lenape 2, Jefferson 0 Samantha Markferding came up with five saves as Lenape Valley blanked Jefferson 2-0. Krysta Arbolina and Sarah Edwards scored for the Patriots. n Wallkill 3, High Point 1 Nicole Travolta scored twice in the second hald as Wallkill Valley snapped a 1-1 deadlock and defeated High Point 3-1. Amanda Nann, who opened the scoring 3:48 into the game, dished off assists on both of Travolta's goals.
