Hockey program holds annual banquet
SPARTA — On March 28 the Sparta-Jefferson United high school hockey program held its annual banquet at the lake Mohawk Country Club. The Varsity team finished with record of 6-12-1, losing in the semifinals of Halvoren Cup playoffs to Madison. The JV team finished with a 7-3 record, losing in the JV semifinals to NLV. Congratulations to the following award winners:
Varsity: MVP: CJ Leonardo; Offensive Player of the Year: Jaxson Mase; Defensive Player of the Year: Matt Redding; Heart & Soul: Logan Hanek and Michael Reilly; Rookie of the Year: Josh Harmel; and Most-Improved: Nick Montone.
JV: MVP: Matthew Francescutto; Offensive Player of the Year: James Battaglia; Defensive Player of the Year: Justin Hiler; Kirk Baker-Marasco Leadership: Matthew Francescutto; Rookie of the Year: Matt Espinosa; Most-Improved: Chris Savino.
