Hopatcong ends Viking title hopes

Junior Martinek gained 306 yards on 34 carries and Hopatcong ran 51 plays to 22 for Vernon as the Chiefs clinched at least a share of the SCIL title by defeating Vernon 35-7. Martinek scored touchdowns on runs of 25, 6 and 79 yards, while quarterback Ian Evans, who completed 4-of-6 passes for 134 yards, hit Jon Stolarz with a 78-yard TD bomb in the second quarter.
