Pope John XXIII Regional High School senior Joseph Pappa is one of 26 football players statewide selected to play in the 47th annual Phil Simms North vs. South All-Star Classic.
The game will be played June 8 at Kean University in Union.
During a March 31 ceremony announcing Pappa’s selection, Pope John’s football head coach Dom Gaston said, “If you are looking for a prime example of what Pope John football is all about, you look at Joe Pappa.”
While accepting the award, Pappa said, “I just want to give thanks to my parents, my coaches and fellow players for helping me to get to the place I am right now.”
The defensive lineman has agreed to play football at Kean starting this fall.
