SPARTA — New Providence beat Pope John XXIII on their home turf in high school boy’s varsity lacrosse on Saturday, March 29.
The final score was 7-6. The game was played at Pope John XXIII High School in Sparta, New Jersey. Pope John XXIII Lions also lost its season opener by one point against Montville High School on Wednesday, March 26.
New Providence's Jack Harvey tied the game on an unassisted goal with less than eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. Harvey also scored with 3:02 left in the fourth to give New Providence the edge for a victory. He tallied four goals and one assist.
Billy VanDyke led Pope John with three goals and one assist.
