Sparta High School results

Leading 3-0 at the intermission, Chris Milliken fueled an eight-goal outburst in the third period as Sparta crushed Millburn 13-4 in a boys' lacrosse match played Friday in Sussex County. Milliken finished with six goals as the Spartans upped their record to 11-2. Nick Heckman pitched in with two goals and a pair of assists while Ryan Matthes scored twice and distributed an assist. Alex Heckman contributed a goal and was credited with four assists Greg Tsigounis and Ari Young added goals. Vinny Florentino dished off a pair of assists while Greg Radford picked up an assist. Steve Zieja hurled a two-hitter as the Spartans defeated Pope John 4-1 in an SCIL baseball game. He fanned eight in recording his third win in five decisions while Bryant Tomlin singled and doubled, plating three runs. Dan Poiunsett doubled and scored twice. Kristie Pellicani tossed her third no-hitter of the campaign, whiffing a dozen in a 3-0 triumph over Pope John. She missed a perfect game when the Lady Spartans committed a pair of errors. Katherin Wilson tripled in a run and Danielle Koert delivered an RBI single.
