Sparta team wins Memorial Day tournament

SPARTA — Sparta Venom topped Montclair 14-6 to win the 12U town team division in the New Jersey Youth Baseball Memorial Day Tournament in Hackensack.
They came from behind to beat Wyckoff 10-8 in the semifinals after going 3-0 in pool play.
With the win, they received an entry into a tournament at Sports at the Beach in Rehoboth, Delaware.
Additionally, The Venom is set to begin playoff rounds in their two spring leagues. They are the top seed in the NJYB 12U division.
Many of the boys have been playing together since third and fourth grade and have participated in numerous leagues and tournaments.
Most notably, this group won the Little League District 20 in 2012 and 2013. They were also the PBI Spring League champion in 2013.
