SPARTA — Sparta High School defeated Westfield High School in boys varsity lacrosse on Thursday, April 27. The final score was 9-8. The game took place at Veterans Field in Sparta Township. Jesse West accomplished a hat trick (scored three goals) to lift Sparta to a 9-8 win over Westfield. Stelios Kroudis and Mike Freeman each scored two goals for Sparta. Russell Eberding and Jack Valentine each scored one goal for Sparta. Sparta goal keeper Reed McCall made 14 saves. Team records: Sparta Spartans 3-7. Westfield Blue Devils 4-5.
