The Pope John XXIII Regional High School’s girls lacrosse team raised more than $1,800 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s fight against breast cancer May 22 in the annual Play Pink game.

The players paid a halftime tribute to assistant coach Erin Laypan, a Stage 3 breast cancer survivor.

Laypan was recognized for her strength, determination, and continued inspiration to the team and community.

”Our girls played with extra motivation tonight,” said head coach Rob Zywicki. “Knowing we were playing for such an important cause and honoring Coach Laypan gave them an emotional boost that translated into excellent team play.”
