SPARTA — Team Synol (blue) defeated Team Tobin (white) in the 2018 Sparta Summer Basketball League championship game on Monday July 30, 2018. The final score was 65-64. The contest took place at the Ungerman Field basketball court in Sparta Township, New Jersey.
The championship was the climax of the 13th season of the Sparta Summer Basketball League.
It was an epic best two out of three series. In recent days inclement weather delayed the series. The two time defending champions Team Tobin defeated Team Synol in game 1 by the score 82-73. But Team Synol prevailed in game 2 by the score 72-68 in overtime.
Team Synol roster: Frankie Rios, Josh Funk, Craig Tomkins, Mike DeLorenzo, Vinny Synol, Eric Whitman, Brandon Zaleski, Eric Schmieder and Randy Jackson.
Team Tobin roster: Almin Hodzic, Matt Tobin, Michael Pryor, Chris McIlvaine, Zack Frick, Mike Tobin, Elvis Hodzic and Trey Smith.
Team records: Team Synol 11-4. Team Tobin 12-2.
