Women’s group meets, golfs
SPARTA. Ty Hayes, head golf professional, orchestrated the 12-Hole Golf Scramble for group members and those interested in joining.
The Lake Mohawk Golf Club Women’s Association celebrated opening day June 3 with an afternoon of golf after a meeting conducted by the group’s president, Dana Nolan.
She presented the budget to the members. Waterproof golf cards explaining golf rules were handed out to the attendees.
Esther Kashkin, chairwoman of the Garden Club, announced upcoming field trips to noted conservatories. The Book Club is reading “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” by John Boyne.
Barbara Rice, treasurer, addressed the need for revised bylaws.
A brunch was provided by Chef Brian Vaughn in coordination with hospitality chairwoman Julie Killen under the auspices of general manager Tom Smith.
Geraniums on the dining tables were donated by the Women’s Association to the golf club to be planted by club horticulturists Holly Gouger and Jill Cadorin.

• Placing first were Doreen Skok, Pat Dermody and Christine Skok (+4).
• In second place were Leslie Plifka, Jan Wardell, Ellen Stuart and Beth Leavy (+6).
• In third place were Cathy Wild, Anna Rowe and Nancy Kemeny (+7).
The day closed with golf awards and hors d’oeuvres.
