Sussex banker completes graduate program

Sussex County— Patricia Backman has graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking in Washington, D.C., Terry H. Thompson, president and chief operating officer of SussexBank has announced. Backman serves as vice president and controller of the bank. “Patty Backman is a key member of the SussexBank management team,” Mr. Thompson stated. “We are confident that her training at Stonier will help us as we continue our path of continued growth, expansion into new markets and development of new products and delivery systems.” Backman said that she is excited about applying her education in a practical, day-to-day manner. “Stonier has given me an unparalleled education from the leaders of the financial services industry,” Backman explained. “It was also an extraordinary opportunity for me to exchange information and ideas with my peers from across the country,” she stated. Backman joined SussexBank 1997 as assistant treasurer, and was later promoted to assistant vice president. Prior to SussexBank, her banking experience included branch management and accounting responsibilities at National Bank of Sussex County and Midlantic National Bank. Ms. Backman holds a BS in Business Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon, W.V.
