Aug. 11 Stephen L. Honthy age 39, of Newton was indicted on charges of with resisting arrest, fourth degree crimes. The cases was investigated by Det. Michael Yanko of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department. Lambert G. Johanson, age 50, of Vernon was indicted for stalking, a fourth degree crime. The case was investigated by Det. Sean Talt of the Vernon Police Department. Russell G. Heflich, age 52, of Sloatsburg, N.Y. was indicted with 11 counts of issuing bad checks and seven counts of theft of services. The case was investigated by Patrolman Robert Tierney of the Byram Township Police Department and Detective Dean Voris of the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office. The grand jury alleges that between the dates of June 1, 2010 and September 30, 2010 Heflich wrote checks to employees of the Timbers Restaurant in Byram Township which were returned for non-sufficient funds. Matthew Simon, age 37, and Stacy Siegel, age 35, both of Hopatcong were indicted with third degree conspiracy to commit theft and third degree theft. The case was investigated by Det. Larry Shaver of the Hopatcong Police Department and Detective Dean Voris of the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office. The indictment alleges that during the period of September 2009 through October 2010, Simon, while acting as president of the Hopatcong Hawks Soccer Club, and Siegel while acting as treasurer of the Hopatcong Hawks Soccer Club, with taking funds in excess of $500 that belonged to the club. A grand jury indictment is a charge only. The defendant is presumed innocent until guilt may be proved at a jury trial.
