The guest list read like the Who's Who of Sparta Township as The Mohawk House restaurant celebrated its unofficial grand opening Saturday July 23. Invited to the elaborate affair were various township employees, committee and council volunteers. The restaurant will officially open to the public on Aug. 2. The affair also served to launch the DOB Project, a program started by the O'Brien family of Sparta (bottom left) to deter drunk driving by encouraging local establishments to provide non-alcoholic beverages free of charge to designated safe drivers.
