Scouts from Sparta’s Troop 82 Venture Crew recently traveled to Barryville, N.Y. for a weekend of whitewater rafting and zip lining along the Delaware River. They paddled beneath cliffs and rock formations and took in the panorama of the Catskill and Pocono Mountains. While camping in Barryville they also rode the second longest zip line on the east coast. It flies 3,000 feet down a hillside and can top speeds of 60 miles per hour. Troop 82 is celebrating 52 years of scouting and meets every Monday evening at the Sparta First Presbyterian Church when school is in session. Warren Potter is the troops Scout Master.
