Turkey Trot kick-off a success despite autumn snow storm

    SPARTA — Despite more than 16" of snow the day before, the Turkey Trot Fall Festival Kick-Off took place Sunday, Oct. 30 as scheduled, thanks to the efforts of Sparta Education Foundation volunteers and Krogh's staff, who shoveled snow outside Krogh's Restaurant & Brew Pub to make way for hot food, beverages, a three piece band and kids' activities including spin art and face painting. Though the weather forced a last-minute decision to cancel the dunk tank staffed by teachers and administrators from Sparta schools, guests still enjoyed food and drinks while listening to music provided by talented Sparta High School students Matt Hespelt, Sean Decker and Jared Decker. Guests tooks advantage of the event's special discounted rate for Turkey Trot registrations, with some families signing up as many as 11 members to run in the annual event.
