Unusual sight

Reader Susan Smith sent in this photo of a piebald deer that had befriended people in her Sparta neighborhood. Piebald deer make up less than I percent of the deer population. They are colored white and brown, sometimes almost entirely white. According to Smith, this deer succumbed to hunting season. It is rumored that killing a piebald deer will bring the hunter 13 years of bad luck.
