Sussex County — On Thursday, Sept. 8, hundreds of thousands of people across the globe will join "Silent Unity," an international and transdenominational prayer ministry, in a sacred partnership of prayer for the 12th Annual World Day of Prayer. This sacred event has traditionally been held on the second Thursday of September. World Day of Prayer is an interfaith event, open to people of all faiths and all walks of life. Its purpose is to unite as many people as possible in prayer for one another. Unity churches, approximately 900, believe prayer is a powerful way to achieve healing, harmony, and understanding. This year the special prayer that is being used to help focus people's minds and hearts is, "United in the transforming power of God's love, we are renewed in mind, body, and spirit as we pray for one another and the world." Many Unity Churches will host World Day of Prayer interfaith events, including Unity Church of Sussex County, located at 25 Mudcut Road in Lafayette. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, to which all are invited. For information, call 973-383-6277.
