Ziegler Dance Centre's, “Z Dance Troupe” wins honors at VIP Dance Regional Competition

WEST MILFORD — Kaitlin Rago of Ziegler Dance Center received a platinum award for her dance solo “Foolish Games” as well as 2nd place overall award in senior solo scores and 7th place overall award for the entire competition at the VIP Dance Regional Competition on May 13 in West Milford. The troupe’s musical theatre production, “Beauty and the Beast,” choreographed by Renee Ziegler, received a platinum award, 6th place overall award for the whole competition, 2nd place overall production award and a Studio award was also presented to this production for Best Overall Performance. Overall awards were given to the Z Dance Troupe in other divisions and categories. Minnie tap small group, “Together Again” got 1st place overall and Minnie hip hop large group, “Thank You,” also earned 1st place overall. Minnie tap trio “Heaven Hop” preformed by Brittany Papa, Ashley Papa, and Emily Tanis received 1st place overall. The junior lyrical large group “Children of Eden” got 4th overall. Junior musical theatre soloist Alexsis Hipper’s, “Don’t Rain on my Parade” received 3rd overall. Junior Duet “Save the Last Dance,” performed by Ashley and Kevin Berge was given 2nd place overall. Teen song and dance soloist Lindsey Dunn’s, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” got 8th overall, and open soloist, Jenifer Baxter’s “Just Let Me Cry” was given 7th overall. Senior soloists were also given overall awards. Brianna Pappas’ lyrical solo, “Absence of Fear” got 10th overall, Amanda Peslak’s lyrical solo, “Alabaster’s Box” received 9th overall and Courtney Chlominski’s musical theatre solo “Whatever Lola Wants” was given 8th overall. Special awards were also presented to the Z Troupe. These were the “Keeps on Ticking” award to Jenifer Baxter, the “Hip-Hop Excellence” award to Tara Bailey, the “Lyrical Excellence” award to Amanda Peslak, the “Costume Award” for “Together Again,” the “Lyrical Technique Excellence” award to“Uninvited,” and the “Judge’s Choice Award, to “Children of Eden.”
