A thanks from the Sparta Girls

To the Editor: In recent months, Sparta Girls Sports hosted the Seventh Annual “School’s Out” Softball Tournament and the 14U National Babe Ruth Softball Championship. At the “School’s Out” Tournament, 80 teams from throughout the tri-state region converged in Sparta for five days of fun and intense softball. During the 14U National Babe Ruth Softball Championship, 15 teams from across the country met in Sparta to compete in softball games that would determine the national champion! During both events, many volunteers spent untold hours behind the scenes to ensure a fun, safe, exciting environment for all the girls, parents, and family members involved. In addition to the dedicated Sparta Girls Sports volunteers, members of the staff of the Sparta Recreation Department deserve a thank you for all of their hard work. We would like to especially recognize Ginny Mohr, Jerry Younkers, Bill Heinz, and Charlie Monroe for their support of Sparta Girls Sports. They truly went “above and beyond” and their efforts assisted in creating a first class experience for all of the girls. Through a team effort, we were able to achieve our goal - providing girls with fun and excitement through softball in Sparta. Andy Garger Sparta Girls Sports
