Apathetic residents should quit complaining

To the Editor: Eighty percent of Sparta’s (registered) voters did not bother to drive (a few miles) during the (extended, worker-convenient) poll hours on a (beautiful, clear) day last week to vote for three (critical) town council members, who happen to have a (powerful) voice on issues that are (unbelievably) significant to Sparta: school overcrowding, the proposed expansion referendum, a residential development moratorium, outrageous property taxes, municipal (fire station, town hall and police station) construction expenses, teacher and administrative salaries and benefits, and (all around) fiscal responsibility. I suggest that all (roughly) 9,500 apathetic (non-) voters relinquish their (inherent) right to complain (even a little) if any (even one) of the above mentioned issues is resolved to their (surprise!) dislike. See you on June 15. Lynne Cavanaugh Sparta
